The Sea Wolf is Zodiac's most important and iconic watch design. First released in 1953, it is one of the watches that has defined the modern dive watch. Featuring a rotating bezel, large lumed markers and hands, and a steel bracelet, it had all of the elements needed for a diver. It was also the first watch marketed to consumers rather than specialists, with dive specific features. It's no wonder why this watch was chosen as the canvas for Zodiac's new limited edition, the Zodiac x eBay® Super Sea Wolf Compression Diver.
Featuring a contemporary 40mm case, the Zodiac X eBay® Super Sea Wolf Compression mixes utility and elegance into a sporty package. The large, standard lume blocks have been replaced with the four colors representing eBay®; red, blue, yellow and green. This creates a subdued rainbow effect, one that doesn't overpower the overall design. That coloring continues in the ceramic unidirectional bezel, in the first 15 minutes of the countdown. And unlike other Super Sea Wolf Compression Divers, numbers 5 to 45, in 5 minute increments, are written out in a countdown formation.
Beyond these design choices, this Sea Wolf is still quite capable. 200 meters of water resistance, a sapphire crystal, and both a tropical-style rubber strap as well as a bracelet complete the package.
Powering this limited edition is the STP 1-21 caliber. This movement is a Swiss-made automatic with 26-jewels, hand-winding and hacking seconds. It has a power reserve of 44hrs and a frequency of 28,800bph for a smooth sweeping seconds hand. Furthermore, unlike its predecessor, it now features a silicon hairspring, which lowers the effects of magnetism on the watch.
