In 2023, CITIZEN presented the Promaster Tsuno Chrono Racer 50th Anniversary, which remained true to the original design from 1973, while incorporating some modern flair. For 2024, Citizen has decided to build on the success of that anniversary model with the Promaster Tsuno Chrono Racer AV0088-01L.
The Promaster Tsuno Chrono Racer AV0088-01L is a bullhead-style chronograph with pushers at 11 and 1 o'clock. You'll find the time-setting crown at 12 o'clock and the alarm-setting crown at 5 o'clock. The dial features a black tachymeter scale with four sub-dials towards its center. There is a 60-minute counter, running seconds display, 12-hour counter and power reserve indicator. A blue dial, luminous white sword hands and red chronograph hands complete the aesthetic.
These features are similar to the Tsuno Chrono Racers of the recent past however what stands out with this model is the new 43.5mm size and the material Citizen uses. Here we find their proprietary Super Titanium™, which is 5x harder and 40% lighter than steel. It is also scratch and rust resistant. This allows a chronograph like the Tsuno Chrono Racer, which is packed full of features, to feel lite and comfortable on the wrist, while also being durable and resilient.
Powering this new creation is CITIZEN's Caliber E210, an Eco-Drive movement powered by ambient light that provides an impressive power reserve of eight months on a full charge. The Promaster Tsuno Chrono Racer AV0088-01L is also water-resistant up to 200 meters, making it an excellent companion for those with an active lifestyle. Completing the racing design is a perforated black rally strap on a deployant clasp.
