Founded in 1939, Marathon has been supplying the US and Canadian governments with accurate timepieces since World War II. In 2001, they launched their now-iconic Search and Rescue dive watch in response to the Canadian Armed Forces requesting a watch that could withstand the intense conditions faced by the Royal Canadian Air Force’s Search and Rescue Technicians. Now, Marathon has brought back the Search and Rescue that started it all — with a few improvements.

The OSAR features a 41mm surgical-grade 316L stainless steel case water resistant to 300m, thanks in part to its large knurled screw-down crown. Though the SAR has come to be associated with its iconic tritium lume, the OSAR goes back to the original’s printed markers with MaraGlo. A large cyclops providing 1.5x magnification brings the OSAR’s date complication into quick view. The unidirectional 120-click bezel is full-graduated for those missions where minutes are critical.

The revived SAR is powered by the Sellita SW200-1, a Swiss-made automatic movement based on the venerable ETA 2824. Featuring 26 jewels, a date complication, hacking, hand winding, a frequency of 28,800 beats per hour, and a power reserve of up to 38 hours.
