Summer, now in Ever-Brilliant Steel
The vibrant, textured green dial of this Grand Seiko Heritage reference SBGH351 evokes the sights and sounds of Rikka, the seventh of Japan’s twenty-four sekki or seasons. Spring has passed and the increasing warmth of the sun's rays announces that summer has begun. Japan’s plants take on a deeper green hue and, as they grow, sway elegantly in the early summer wind.
Cast in Grand Seiko's own proprietary and anti-corrosive Ever-Brilliant Stainless Steel, this is a modern re-interpretation of the celebrated 62GS from 1967, whose characteristic sharp edges and perfect distortion-free surfaces can only be created through Zaratsu polishing. The watch’s wide dial opening was achieved thanks to a bezel-free construction, lending the 62GS a distinctive appearance on the wrist.
Inside is the Hi-Beat Caliber 9S85, hand assembled by the skilled craftsmen and women of the Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi. This high-frequency mechanical movement was developed by rethinking the parts that form the foundation of the watch’s precision, granting the level of torque necessary to maintain a high oscillation rate and realizing a practical power reserve of about 55 hours when fully wound.
